My Story: Learning through Mistakes and Self-doubt

My name is Robert and this is my blog.

Throughout my life, I’ve always been obsessed with perfectionism and self-image. But I did not do it for myself, but for others around me.

And it made me quit every time because I failed to impress or outperform my competition.

Now things are a little different. Here’s my story from to working as a digital marketing nerd/guru! 🙂

Robert Kormoczi

Most people I know or have seen their website share an “About Me” page, focusing on how awesome they are, how big their fanbase is and rub it in my face as a badge of honour. Some deserve credit, but some just over do it.

Now, don’t get me wrong! Credit should be given to hard work where it belongs. But my blog is not about success stories and millions of dollars.

I like to tell and live my story as a person who fucks things, but at the end of the day, gets shit done right.

Growing up in South Africa

Strange as it may sound, I’m originally a Hungarian who grew up in on the outskirts of Johannesburg, South Africa. In heart, I’m part Safa and will always be!

But after the World Cup in 2010, after nearly 10 years, my family moved back to Hungary. By that time I was an adult, ready to move out of the family nest and start university.

That is when, I got accepted to study Economics and Business in Denmark. Looking back, I believe it was a great choice since it left me with some great memories and zero student debt.

University Years

Despite the shifting workaholic-alcohol balance throughout my studies, I tried to make every moment as crazy and memorable as possible. Thankfully I got a scholarship to every single university I went to.

  • Aalborg
  • Hamburg University
  • Aarhus University
  • Shanghai Jiao Tong University
But by the time I was 25 I thought I knew everything to tackle the job market from hundreds of lectures and a few months of internships as a sales assistant in a small town in Denmark.
Oh boy, how wrong and naive I was when I got my master’s degree and entered: The Real World!

Looking back, I believe I could have done so much more! I’ve wasted many years of my life and if I had the knowledge I already have now, I’m certain I would’ve been the next dropout. University and college for me is a memory with ups and lows. But the opportunity cost of time and energy invested in my studies that I’m never going to use makes me feel like I’ve squandered years in the long run.

And then, trouble started!!!

I was out in the wilderness as a fresh, delusional graduate who watched too many episodes of Suits. And I didn’t know what to do with my life or how to get started despite having some work experience.

But worst of all, I had no vision or an idea about what I’d like to do. So I did the worst thing possible. I went with the flow!

I ended up working at one of the big four companies, KPMG!

And let me tell you! It was a nightmare.

The work pressure and work-load was something I embraced as a workaholic. But I had other concerns as I stared at the hundreds of desks and employees.

No humanity, individuality, no

Some people embraced this lifestyle, but I dreaded the thought of staying there any longer. So I was thankfully dismissed from KPMG with a big smile on my face! 😀

Digital Marketing Consultancy and Finding fulfillment at Work

Despite my background in Economics and Business, I have taken a keen interest in WordPress, SEO, Web development, and online marketing.

After three and a half years, I’ve been working with tech startups, entrepreneurs, and fintech founders.

As a passionate blogger and digital marketer, I’ve worked hard to combine my tasks with my passion in building my own content around topics regarding tech and personal finance, where my websites have reached +50,000 monthly visits. I tend to work hard on implementing certain marketing tactics into my content promote traffic and boost a website’s domain ranking

The end goal of this blog and my career is to lend a hand and reach out to as many people as possible to help them build various passive income streams to be independent or support their 9 to 5 jobs.

As a millenial, I also experience the financial difficulties of my generation and the generation before me. These days, it is an absolute must to carve several paths to online income, long-term investments and passive income streams.

My blog’s purpose is to document my journey from a newbie blogger so that we can learn together.
